Good morning! Here's how to convert your election anxiety into action.
One option involves phone banking with Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird, the official Royal Couple of Power Plays.
Hi, friends. Power Plays will return to its regularly-scheduled programming later this week. Right now, all I can think about is the U.S. election, and my guess is that I’m not alone!
So, in order to use this platform in the most productive way possible, I’ve compiled a list of a few ways you can help get out the vote over the next, say, 36 hours. If you have other suggestions, please put them in the comments.
Monday, November 2, 11:00 a.m. ET: Get Out the Vote with Megan and Sue!!
Yes, our newly-engaged besties are hosting a Get Out the Vote phone banking event in just a couple of hours.
It’s in conjunction with Biden-Harris supporters from Washington, but it’s a virtual event that you can attend from anywhere. You’ll be making calls to key battleground states, and there will be a training session included. I’ll be there.

Monday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET: HOH Election Rally with Ari Chambers, Crystal Dunn, and Napheesa Collier
On Monday night, House of Highlights is holding a #BiggerThanTheGame Election Rally, which will include the great Ari Chambers, Crystal Dunn, and Napheesa Collier.
This isn’t directly a volunteer event, but it is a way to educate yourself on the election, hang out with some awesome female athletes, and do something other than doomscroll for a few hours.
Here are great ways to help out any time before polls close through texting
Resistance Labs makes it so, so easy to get out the vote via text.
You can easily take the New Texter Training online, and then dive right in to help with the two current campaigns, Black Voters Matter in Georgia and Black Voters Matter in Michigan.
Here are great ways to help out any time before polls close through calling
Mobilize.us has a thorough list of phone banks and virtual events that you can volunteer at — training included — to help elect democrats up and down the ballot on Tuesday. Sign up for at least one of these right now.
Swing Left is also a great resource — and provides a great platform to get out some last-minute donations, if you want to contribute monetarily.
If you live in a swing state or close to one
There are still ways to volunteer in-person, be it for canvassing or at the polls. Click here and put in your zip code to look at local opportunities.
Here’s a more thorough list of ways to volunteer in key states, and here are in-person volunteer opportunities at the polls, via VoteTripling.org.
If you haven’t voted yet
Vote Save America has a great run-down of election laws in every state, so you can make sure you show up to the polls fully prepared.
Please put any additional resources you’ve found helpful in the comments. Tomorrow I’ve got a very light post planned, and am happy to host an open thread if you all would like. Please take care of yourselves and remember to breathe. We’re almost there.
