Hi, friends. First off: I am so sorry it has been so long. If you’re a paid subscriber, I’ll be in touch soon about how I’m making it up to you.
I’ve been working on the perfect re-introduction post, and I’ll be honest, this isn’t it. But what’s that they say? Perfect is the enemy of done? Progress not perfection? Perfectionism is a form of self-oppression? Perfection is just fear in disguise? All of the above?
Anyways, today I just want to say that I am in Indianapolis for WNBA All-Star! If you’re going to be around, please let me know, I would love to see you!
I’m doing lots of on-the-ground reporting this weekend, and next week the newsletter will be back in earnest. There are big things on the horizon — a deep dive into WNBA CBA history, an exclusive interview with one of Power Plays’ favorite athletes, and a long-overdue brand refresh (!!), and more.
I’m so excited to start sharing it all with you in a few days.
But since I want to leave you with a little *something* headed into the weekend, here are a few things from the WNBA world that have made me smile recently, because smiling is my favorite and yet sometimes I forget that!!
You have got to listen to Sue Bird’s interview with Tina Charles on her podcast, “Bird’s Eye View.” It is full of fun nuggets from one of the best — and often most overlooked and mysterious — stars in the game.
Friends, Rickea Jackson collabed with my favorite food, Cheez-It, for a pre-game fit, and I am obsessed with everything about it. Click through to Instagram for the videos from Rickea and her stylist. It will be worth it, I promise.
You’re all watching studbudz, right??? RIGHT????!!!
I’m also just enthralled with the entire Marina Mabrey/Saniya Rivers show. And apparently, so is the official WNBA account.
And yes, to continue on a theme, I cannot stop giggling at the hard launch heard around the world. LOOK AT HOW HAPPY PAIGE LOOKS.
I love love. I love this league. And I love you all.
Pumped for what’s to come. Hope to see some of you this weekend! If not, I’ll talk to you next week.
