Power Plays is moving! (No boxes or packing tape required.)
Plus: A few hours left for the BIAD kickstarter!
Hi, friends!
First off, I want to thank you so much for your support of the Burn It All Down Kickstarter that I plugged in my last newsletter. We have all been bowled over by the support. Today is the last day to donate, and while we surpassed our initial goal of $10,000, we are trying to reach our stretch goal of $29,0001 in the next few hours and are only about $1,500 away! There are less than six hours left in the campaign, so if you need a deadline to act (like yours truly), this is your time!!
Now, as for Power Plays, last month I promised I’d give you information about the relaunch by the end of that week. Then, literally less than an hour after I published that email, I got a call about a family emergency that upended the next few weeks of life. Everything is fine, but the timing was less than ideal!
But what is delayed will not be denied!!
March might be one of the most chaotic months for me work-wise, but I cannot fathom going through the NCAA tournament without Power Plays in my life, so we are going to make this happen!!
Next week, Power Plays will be migrating over to Beehiiv, a different newsletter platform2. There, we will relaunch with fresh branding and energy but (I hope!) the same spirit and insight and community that made the Power Plays heydays so successful and enjoyable and impactful.
What does this mean for you? Nothing, really, unless the Substack app is the main way you get this newsletter. I’ll still be coming to your inbox — albeit regularly, once again! — and I’ll have all the answers you need — and more! — next week. You just stay right where you are. I’ll do the heavy lifting.
New starts are terrifying, and this move is one that I have been wavering about for literal years. And, I’m not going to lie — I still have some doubts about it! But I know in my heart of hearts that it is time to say goodbye to Substack and start a new era of Power Plays.
Let’s do this.
That would ensure that we could make seven episodes of Burn It All Down AND, crucially, that we could recoup costs incurred over the past few years and during the relaunch. If you give $25 you get an invite to our virtual happy hour on March 13, but truly, every bit counts!
I’m going to be honest: As some of you know, I am a women’s basketball lead with CBS Sports now, so the exact timing of the move might depend on CBA news.
