Hi, friends. So, I don’t know about you, but I’m having a hard time thinking about anything that isn’t tomorrow’s election day in the United States. My brain is completely mush, and it has been for days. (Weeks? Years?) I’ve been spending lots of time taking on volunteer shifts here in North Carolina because of the swinginess of the state. I’m telling you that in part to explain why things have been a bit slow in this neck of the woods; in part to encourage you to get out and vote and volunteer and engage — trust me there will be many chances to help post-election day, too; and in part to get pats on the back, let’s be honest.
Trust me, I know the democratic party isn’t perfect; far from it. But the alternative is so much worse. It’s particularly disgusting how Trump and republicans up and down the ballot have been using transphobia and weaponized paternalism over women’s sports as a closing argument. We MUST to send a loud message that such disingenuous, dangerous bullshit will not be tolerated.
Anyways, because of said stress, I thought today was a good day to do a quick check-in on a few things in women’s sports that are breaking through my wall of anxiety and bringing me pure joy. The list is far from complete, because my brain is currently in fragments, but it’s good to be reminded that no matter what happens tomorrow (oh god oh god oh god), there is some good in this world.
