The Kickstarter model is actually brilliant for indpendent media since it frontloads revenue and proves demand before committing resources. I remember when my former podcast died from similiar funding issues and we never thought to try crowdfunding first. Community-backed media really is the future for niche but critical coverage like feminist sports journalism.
I AM SO EXCITED!!! BIAD was the first feminist sports content I ever found, and y'all feel like my first women's sports friends. Years later, I still get chills when I walk into spaces full of women's sports fans, like the pregame party for Unrivaled in Philly on Friday. I know so many fellow sports feminists now and BIAD coming back feels like a reunion.
